APPLICATIONS

Ulano 569 Fast is an excellent solvent-resistance emulsion that can be used in most graphic printing. Ideal for high-quality, high-volume production used in conjunction with high intensity light sources as well as low-intensity exposure units.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

  • Light purple (violet) colored diazo emulsion

  • Exposes in half the time of Ulano 569 and Ulano 569L

  • 34% solids content

INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLING & USE

Ulano 569 Fast should be used under yellow safe lights, both in application and handling.

Sensitizing:

Some Ulano 569 products are supplied with a powder diazo sensitizer. Once obtained, you can dissolve the sensitizer with lukewarm water up to the shoulder of the bottle. Shake well, then wait 15 minutes for bubbles to disappear. When fully dissolved, pour the sensitizer into your Ulano 569 Fast. Stir with a clean, flat tool until the color is the same throughout. Close the container and let it sit for at least an hour to help the emulsion de-bubble.

Mesh Preparation:

In certain cases, Ulano 569 Fast can be supplied with a powder diazo sensitizer. This sensitizer needs to be dissolved with lukewarm water, just to above the shoulder of the bottle itself. Once completed, shake the bottle, and wait 15 minutes for bubbles to cease. After fully dissolving, pour the sensitizer into your Ulano 569 Fast. Stir the emulsion with a tool until it is uniform in color. Close the container and wait at least one hour for it to de-bubble.

Coating Procedure:

There are three ways to correctly coat your Ulano 569 Fast.

  • Method 1: Apply one coat of Ulano 569 Fast to the print side and one to the squeegee side. Dry the screen completely.

  • Method 2: Apply two coats of Ulano 569 Fast to the print side, and two to the squeegee side. After each coat, rotate the screen 180°. Dry thoroughly with the print side down.

  • Method 3: Recreate method 2, but after drying your screen, add an additional coat on the printing side. Dry the screen once again.

Drying:
Since you have coated the screen twice (Methods 2 or 3) you will need to dry your screen in a horizontal position, printing side down. A fan can be used to speed dry, but avoid high humidity. In the event of humidity, dry the coated screen with filtered air,  up to 104° F (40°C) with a commercial dryer. Follow up with a dehumidifier if possible.

Exposure:

Exposure time for Ulano 569 Fast will be based off of light source and your choice of coating method (see above in the Coating Procedure Section for more information). Exposure times used below will reference 305T/in (120T/cm) white polyester or nylon at 40 inches (100 cm) exposure distance.

Washout:

Begin by wetting both sides of your screen gently with cold water. Spray forcefully from the printing side until the image area is completely clear. Both sides should be rinsed gently until you no longer see emulsion on the squeegee side as well as foam or bubbles. For excess water, simply blot from the printing side with unprinted newspaper stock.

Reclaiming:

In order to reuse your screen, you must remove excess ink. Use a solvent, and rinse your screen with water. Degrease using Ulano Screen Degreaser Liquid No. 3 for removal of oily ink or solvent residues. Rinse your screen. Use either Ulano Stencil Remover Liquid No. 4 or Ulano Stencil Remover Paste No. 5 on both sides of your screen. Avoid letting the stencil remover dry on your screen. Rinse gently at first, then use a powerful spray of water. Use an appropriate haze or ghost remover for additional stains.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR STORAGE:

Ulano 569 Fast emulsions not treated with diazo can be stored or up to 1 year. Sensitized (diazo added) emulsion can be stored for 3 - 6 weeks at room temperature, and up to 3 months when refrigerated. Store any coated screens in a cool, dry, and entirely dark while they await exposure.

Extending the Life of Your Emulsion

  • Your Ulano 569 Fast should be kept in a cool, dry area, but not to the point of freezing the emulsion. Certain temperatures as well as humidity can cause Ulano 569 Fast to breakdown, rendering it useless for screen printing purposes.

  • Make sure to keep the lid on your Ulano 569 Fast tight. This way, you’ll avoid letting in air or light, which will pre-expose your product.

  • Add dates to your Ulano 569 Fast container to keep track of every use.
