Ulano 925WR is a formulated emulsion that can be used with with water-based textile inks. It shares the main characteristics of Ulano TZ emulsions, but with a higher solid content and even better resolution, edge definition, and exposure latitude. Stencils produced with Ulano 925WR are completely water resistant and very durable.

Ulano 925WR should only be coated and handled under yellow safe lights, helping keep the normal consistency of the emulsion.

Add lukewarm water to the shoulder of your diazo bottle until it dissolves. (Some Ulano 925WR emulsions will come with a separate syrup diazo sensitizer for faster mixing - Please consult Garston directly about this product). Shake the bottle well and wait 15 minutes for the bubbles to clear. When fully dissolved, pour the entire sensitizer into your Ulano 925WR. Use a clean broad, plastic, flat or stainless steel tool until your Ulano 925WR is evenly colored. Close the container and wait at least one hour to allow the emulsion to debubble. For storage purposes, date the emulsion label container.

Mesh Preparation:

Degrease used or surface-treated fabric by using the Ulano Screen Degreaser Liquid No. 3, Dilute Screen Degreaser Concentrate No. 33, Magic Mesh Prep, or other degreaser you have on hand. This helps to promotes uniform coating and provides an antistatic surface.

Coating Procedure:
There are three proper ways to coat your Ulano 925WR:

  • Method 1: Apply one coat of emulsion on the printing side and another coat on the squeegee side.

  • Method 2: Apply two coats on the printing side and another two coats on the squeegee side.

  • Method 3: Follow method 2, then after drying the screen, add another two coats on the printing side and dry again.


Multi Coated screens can be dried horizontally, print side down in a clean environment. Use a fan for speed drying or a commercial dryer with filtered air up to 104°F. (40°C.). It is also suggested to dehumidify the drying area if possible.


Exposure time will vary depending on light source, wattage and which method you coat your screen with (consult above in the Coating Procedure Section). Exposure should be kept at a 40in distance.

Carbon Arc

  • 110 amps: 52 sec (Coating Method 1), 160 sec (Coating Method 2), 216 sec (Coating Method 3)

Metal Halide

  • 2000 watts: 44 sec (Coating Method 1), 124 sec (Coating Method 2), 164 sec (Coating Method 3)

Pulsed Xenon

  • 8000 watts: 58 sec (Coating Method 1), 168 sec (Coating Method 2), 231 sec (Coating Method 3)

Mercury Vapor

Fluorescent Tubes

  • 40 watts: 288 sec (Coating Method 1), 12 min (Coating Method 2)


Using a gentle cold water spray, wet both sides of your screen. Then, spray the printing side until you clear the image area. Rinse both sides with a gentle spray to remove all foam, bubbles and soft emulsion on the squeegee side. Remove excess water from the printing side by blotting with unprinted newspaper stock.

To ensure the reuse of your screens, you must remove excess ink with the appropriate solvent. Rinse your screen with water, and apply a degreaser for ink and solvent residue. Use either a stencil remover liquid or a remover paste for both sides of the screen. You can also use a hazer or ghost remover, as needed.


Without sensitizing your Ulano 925WR, it can last up to a year in storage. If you sensitize it, it can be stored for 3-6 weeks at room temperature. It will last 3 months at this stage in a refrigerator. For all storage methods, keep your screens in a cold, dark, dry area until you expose them.

Extending the Life of Your Emulsion

  • Refrain from storing your Ulano 925WR outdoors, in the heat or extreme cold. This will break down the components, rendering it useless.

  • Keep the lid tight. This will help your Ulano 925WR avoid being preexposed from an air leak or light leak.

  • Always label your Ulano 925WR after use. This will help you keep track of when you last used it as well as how many times it has been used.
