Ulano EZ-50 Orange is a pure photopolymer capillary film, that is well suited for general sportswear. It is fast exposing and can improve resolution without the need for dyed-mesh, which can be more expensive.
High contrast orange color to mask light scattering and halation
Used for mesh counts of 33-77 threads/cm
Coated on 300-gauge matte polyester
Can be adhered with plain water
INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLING & USE
When using Ulano EZ-50 Orange, be sure to work under yellow safelight to avoid pre-exposure.
For a fabric that has already been used or surface-treated, the only degreasing nedeed is Screen Degreaser Liquid No. 3 or dilute Screen Degreaser Concentrate No. 33, or Magic Mesh Prep. If you are working with an untreated fabric, mechanical abrasion is an option (for mechanical abrasion, treat with Use Microgrit No. 2 before degreasing, and then abrading and degreasing can be combined in one step with Ulanogel 23). Next, you’ll want promote uniform water retention using Magic Mesh Prep or CDF Mesh Prep No. 25. Using water, rinse thoroughly.
There are three methods for adhering Ulano EZ-50 Orange to your mesh.
With the emulsion side facing up, place a sheet of Ulano EZ-50 Orange on a flat surface.
Place the printing side of a wet screen on top of the film. The film will darken as it gets wet. Apply light pressure to press any bubbles, or gaps between the film and mesh, and push them out to the edge. Make a single squeegee stroke, over the the squeegee side, so that excess water is removed. Wipe away excess water.
Cut the film to size, and roll it (emulsion side out), around a plastic tube (2.5 x 4 cm in diameter). Soak the fabric from the squeegee side, if it is not already wet. Make contact with the edge of the roll to the top of the screen, on the printing side of the mesh, then unwind the roll over the mesh. While you do this maintain firm contact with the mesh.
Using one light squeegee stroke on the squeegee side, remove excess water.
Place a piece of Ulano EZ-50 Orange on a flat surface beneath a dry and prepared screen.
Place one piece of tape on the inside of the screen along one edge of the film, and a second piece of tape along the opposite edge. Pour a bead of ORANGE emulsion across one piece of tape ,and then softly squeegee, to "print" the ORANGE through the fabric to the film, across the film to the tape on the opposite side. After 30 seconds make a “reverse print stroke”. Allow about 1 minute before lifting the frame for drying.
Thoroughly dry your screen at room temperature in a dirt and dust free environment. You can use a fan to make the drying process quicker. If it is possible use a dehumidifier in the drying area. If drying in humid conditions, dry the screen in a commercial dryer with warm, filtered air, using temperatures less than 40º C. Remove the backing immediately before exposure.
Base Exposure Times will be at 4 inches (10 cm) using unfiltered black light tubes. For "cool white" or "daylight" tubes, use at least double the exposure time. Exposure times vary based on the light source:
30 amps: 112 sec
110 amps: 32 sec
1000 watts: 74 sec
2000 watts: 37 sec
3000 watts: 24 sec
4000 watts: 20 sec
5000 watts 15 sec
7000 watts: 12 secs
2000 watts: 215 sec
5000 watts: 87 sec
8000 watts: 56 sec
1000 W: 96 sec
2000 W: 48 sec
4000 W: 24 sec
Use a gentle cold water spray to wet both sides of the screen. Then use a forceful spray, on the printing side, until the image areas become clear. Use a gentle spray to rinse both sides of the screen. Rinse until there is no soft emulsion remaining on the squeegee side, and there are bubbles or foam. Blot away excess water from the printing side, using newspaper. Then, dry your screen.
Aggressive solvents may make it very difficult to reclaim Ulano EZ-50 Orange. If you choose to reclaim your screen, remove excess ink with Ulano Eco-Wash 160, All-Purpose Ink Wash, the ink manufacturer’s recommended solvent or the least powerful ink diluent you can find. Do not allow your stencil remover to dry on your screen, this can leave behind a permanent stencil. Gently rinse your screen with water first, then use a forceful spray of water. Use any haze remover to get rid of residue, stencil haze or ghost images.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR STORAGE:
Keep unused or unexposed screens, stored in dark and dry conditions. Shelf life for unused Ulano EZ-50 Orange is up to 12 months. Unexposed Ulano EZ-50 Orange can be stored for up to one month. However, when not stored at proper conditions the lifespan of your capillary film can decrease. The expiration date for Ulano EZ-50 Orange decreases if kept in hot or humid conditions.
