APPLICATIONS

Ulano QTX is formulated perfectly for imprinted sportswear printing due to its high solids content. This results in superior coating properties, better mesh bridging on coarse fabrics, and fast drying capabilities. Simply put, Ulano QTX is a ready-to-use, ultra-fast-exposing SBQ-photopolymer direct emulsion.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLING & USE
Ulano QTX should only be handled under yellow safe light conditions.


Sensitizing

QTX comes completely presensitized, no added sensitizer is needed.


Mesh Preparation:

21q Mesh prep only requires the degreasing of used/surface treated materials. There is alternate option when un-treated mesh is ready to be treated called mechanical abrasion.

This allows for increased mesh surface area to create a more effective mechanical bond of the stencil. WHen it comes to more and an anti-static treatments as well degreaser, the Magic Mesh Prep does it all in one. It creates a smooth screen printing process by allowing the better ink flow.


Coating Procedure

There are three main methods we suggest. The amount of coats and dry time will affect the results.

  • Method One: Put one coat of emulsion on the printing side, and one on the squeegee side. Make sure the screen is very dry.

  • Method Two: Apply two coats on the printing side, then two coats on the squeegee side. Once each coat is done, rotate the screen 180°.

  • Method Three: Follow Method Two (above). Then, after drying the screen, apply two additional coats on the printing side.


Drying:

Once the application is done, place the screens in a horizontal orientation with the printing side facing down in room temp. You can speed up the process by utilizing a fan, if it is a commercial dryer make sure you  dry the screen with warm, filtered air, of up to 104° F.


Exposure:

Exposure time is reliant on the type of light, wattage and coating method you applied to your screens (see methods above in Coating Procedure). Exposure times below can be applied for Ulano QTX in reference to 305 threads/in. (120/cm) white polyester or nylon at 40 in. (100 cm.) exposure distance.

  • 2000 watts: 11 sec (Coating Method 1), 30 sec (Coating Method 2), 41 sec (Coating Method 3)

Washout:

Once the screens have been exposed, carefully spray them with cold water on each side.

After exposure, gently spray the screen with cold water and wet both sides. Continue to spray until the image areas are clear. Rinse both sides of the screen until no soft emulsion is left on the squeegee side, and no foam or bubbles remain. Be sure to blot the excess water from the printing side with an unprinted newspaper.


Reclaiming:

To remove excess ink use an all-purpose ink wash by the same ink manufacturer. It is important to use the LEAST powerful ink diluent as strong solvents can fuse Ulano QTX stencils to the mesh! You should use a brush stencil remover liquid/paste on both sides of the screen. Be sure not to let the stencil remover stand for more than 5 minutes or allow it to dry on the screen, as this can result in a permanent stencil. Rinse off the stencil remover and stencil with a light spray of water, followed by a powerful spray to remove any excess ink haze or residues.


INSTRUCTIONS FOR STORAGE

Your Ulano QTX should be kept in a cool, dry area to prevent early exposure.


Extending the Life of Your Emulsion

  • Keep your Ulano QTX in a cool area. Exposure to certain temperatures or humidity can break down the components. You can keep emulsions in the fridge but first refer to the instructions on your product to avoid rendering it useless.

  • The lid on your Ulano QTX should always be tight to help avoid air or light leaks.

  • By dating your Ulano QTX, you will be able to keep track of how many times you have used it as well as the expected expiration date after opening.
